Adoption Policy

Submit an application at www.hobocare.org. A volunteer will call you for an interview and home visit. Ho-Bo Care is run entirely by volunteers, so please be patient with us. We do try to get to all applications within a week or two. Once your home visit is completed and approved, the volunteer will discuss which dog or dogs may be a good fit for your family and schedule you to meet them. While we understand that a picture may draw you in, please do not select a dog based on looks alone. We do our best to get to know the dogs so that we are finding the best homes for them. We will not place you on a waiting list for a specific color or look. Once a match is found, adopt!

"I have worked with HoBo for the past 4 years. This rescue is filled with the most selfless, compassionate, and supportive volunteers. Even though it’s a boxer rescue, we bring in a lot of different dogs, last year we even had a frenchie join the rescue! I love working with this rescue, I just wish we had all of the resources we actually need."

"I’ve been volunteering with Ho-Bo for about 6 years and I am always so impressed at the genuine care and concern our directors have for the homeless boxers. Even when we are bursting at the seams in our kennel and our fosters are full, if there is a boxer in need Ho-Bo Care steps up. The support of their fosters is second to none. They ensure the fosters have all they need to take care of a ho-bo until they find a forever home. This rescue also brought a sweet grand-dog into my life as my daughter adopted after foster failing. Ho-Bo Care Boxer Rescue will always be in my life and I’m proud to support their valiant work!"

"HoBo Care has rescued well over 6000 dogs over the last 50 plus years. We are all volunteers who strive to help and nurture not only boxers and pitties but occasionally other breeds as well. We're a compassionate group dedicated to finding these dogs from all backgrounds the best fit for a new life. I'm proud to say I'm a part of this wonderful group!"

"Hobo Care is a 100% volunteer run rescue. Our team of fosters, administrators, home-checkers, adoption coordinators, walkers and veterinary care givers and trainers pour our hearts and souls into rescuing, rehabilitating, vetting and finding the best home for each dog that enters our rescue. Although Boxer is in our name, we take in a variety of mixed breed dogs. We are 100% positive reinforcement training only and our adopters must commit to that as well. We also don’t shy away from the hard cases. It’s truly remarkable and heartwarming to see what love, training and encouragement can do for a dog with a rough past. ❤️"

"Ho-Bo Care Boxer Rescue is run by a group of the most dedicated and hardest working volunteers you could meet. They put their heart and soul into providing the best transition of every pup, treating each as their own. They work tremendously hard to find the perfect furever home for each pup and they do an amazing job."

"Ho Bo checked out my home before giving me clearance to pursue adoption. I discussed my interest with an individual from the group that shared with me possible candidates. They have a visit to meet process that allowed me to meet and greet. I was able to discuss the dogs character with her foster caretaker. I came home with a forever adoptee that with time has become an integral part of my family. The support I received along with the care they provided with my dog has given me every confidence that this group should be honored for their continued mission to save dogs with the love and care unsurpassed."
