We are a non-profit, foster-based animal rescue in Asheville, NC that has saved thousands of lives since our inception in 2017. Through grassroots efforts, we envision a future in which all companion animals find loving homes where they are able to receive the care and respect they deserve.

Mission and Vision

Connection people with pets in need.

Adoption Policy

First, you will need to complete the adoption application for the pet you are interested in or fill out a generic application if you don’t see a pet that is of interest to you. Our adoption counselors are excellent matchmakers and will be in touch within a few days to discuss your application. If determined that you are the best fit for the pet, a meet and greet is then scheduled for you to hopefully take home your new furry friend.

"I love MPR! I got my boy Kevin from them, and then when I started fostering, ended up with a few Very Good Boys that came through my doors, until my little Joanie came along. I finally had to agree that some fosters are just fails from jump :) My husband was so sure that we'd just have a few pups here and there... just couldn't let this girl go. Him as much as me. Called the office to update them on Joanie's first day in my home, and the response was "when you figure out she's the Bestest Girl in the World, just call us back and pay her adoption fee over the phone". Ever the rebel... I popped into the office with cash just to share my happy dance with the staff. Such caring and wonderful people there, I'm so happy I encountered them when I did, as I'm pretty committed to being a pet parent for life :D"

"They do not pick and choose animals to help. They do not discriminate against breeds, ages or how many are in a litter. They help the mothers along with their babies."

"I was a volunteer with mpr from the start before I was an employee. My favorite things about them are their flexible and “right fit” adoption policy vs strict one rule for all, willingness to take on “less adoptable” animals, and dedication to explore all options for a dog’s best quality of life/outcome. We are a small badass team of mostly women who are saving lives."

"Mountain Pet Rescue is the most amazing organization in Western North Carolina!!!! They have helped me with at least 500 Dogs, Puppies, Cats, and Kittens in the last 3 or 4 years!!!! I am a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, and if it wasn’t for this amazing Group of People these precious animals would have never got the chance to live!! I’ve seen some of the most amazing success stories of some of the adoptions!!! I’m forever grateful to have this amazing Rescue in Asheville!!"
