Texas Sled Dog Rescue is a small rescue focusing on finding fur-ever homes for sled dog types (Siberian huskies and Alaskan Malamutes, and mixes). While in rescue, we will place them in foster homes, provide basic training as needed, and vetting which includes vaccinations, spay or neuter, microchip and other medical services as needed. Our volunteers are involved in all facets of rescue including but not limited to fundraising, transporting, evaluating dogs, respresenting the rescue at local dog events, fostering, etc.

"Two years ago the end of this month my Rowdy popped up on my Facebook feed as having less than 24hrs before they were going to put him down. By the time I got permission it was 2hrs. The problem was we were in Houston at my granddaughters birthday and the shelter was 3hrs away in San Antonio. When I finally got ahold of someone at the shelter they were not willing to give him and me 24hrs. It was a Sunday. So I sent out requests for help to the rescues I've donated to or helped in the past. They got ahold of rescues and advocates that work the area. I don't know who but one called me saying here's the shelter director's name and number and she was expecting my call. Long story short, Texas Sled Dog Rescue was one of those rescues. I was there when they opened the doors Monday and here we are two years later."

"We have adopted 2 dogs from TSDR. They work tirelessly to place sled dogs in the proper homes with families who are knowledgeable with the breeds. Not only do I recommend them to others but I would adopt from them again."

"We are a small rescue which strives to find the best fit for the family and the sled dog to make a successful long term adoption. We also provide support to our fosters and adopters, even years later if something arises."

"I have been a supporter & foster for Texas Sled Dog Rescue for over 10 years. I have adopted 3 furbabies through TSDR and volunteered at numerous events. This rescue goes above and beyond to help these sled dogs. We have grown close to many of the people who run the rescue as well as the fosters & adopters. It’s become our sled dog rescue family. We will continue our support for our favorite rescue."

"I signed up to foster a dog for another rescue. The dog needed a medical foster but once I left with him no one would ever respond to me or my questions about his care. I made a FB post and someone with Texas Sled Dog Rescue reached out and helped me. They became our Husky Family and I have seen them offer support to so many others and work to educate about the Husky breed. They are so deserving of this recognition."

"We got our beautiful Reina from there. Super friendly and helpful. They even met us halfway since we live in Florida."

"I found the love of my life with my rescued husky mix from Texas Sled Dog Rescue! They saved my dog, her mom, and her abandoned littermates and fostered her until she could be spayed and chipped and I could adopt her. I love these people, and I even got to bring my dog to a fun party with other huskies and she got to reunite with her mom and littermates. This is a fantastic organization."
