I have fostered and adopted from The London Sanctuary. I deeply respect their efforts to not only physically treat the neglected and abused hunting hounds they find but also their emotional needs. The London Sanctuary is deeply needed in their rural area with the horrific abuse hunting hounds face. They also are trying to change the mind set of hunters in addition to caring for the endless stream of horribly abused hunting hounds. My deepest admiration goes out to them for all they do.

The London Sanctuary is a nonprofit exclusive hound rescue and sanctuary. TLS provides long-term care for dogs who are unable to be placed due to their advanced age or medical needs. We also work to place adoptable hounds in their forever homes who have been rescued from government-run shelters around the Southeastern U.S. or were abandoned forest hounds in more rural areas in NE Florida.

Mission and Vision

TLS rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes dogs from area shelters & abandoned forest hounds. We work to save dogs at-risk of euthanasia. TLS houses a limited number of dogs as care-for-life dogs that cannot be placed either due to age and/or medical conditions. TLS spays/neuters and gives required immunizations and necessary medical treatment to all dogs before placement. TLS attempts to place dogs through online pet-listing services, forums, and social media. TLS thoroughly screens prospective owners with background checks, home and veterinary reference checks. TLS provides ongoing support and education to all adopters even after the adoption is finalized.

Specialization

Adoption Policy

Once you have submitted your application for a TLS hound, it is automatically sent to our application processing team. TLS will reach out to you to establish contact and to coordinate the application process. Each individual over the age of 18 in your household will be subject to a background check. We will conduct a home visit (virtual) to ensure a good fit. If you live in an apartment or rental property, the management company may be asked if it is okay for you to have a dog in your home. If you already have pets, a vet check will be required. A TLS volunteer will ask your vet if your pet is up to date on necessary vaccines, has been spayed/neutered, and is on a heartworm preventative regimen. The London Sanctuary will review the application and, if approved, we will coordinate meet-n-greet and/or finalization of the adoption. Lastly, your new best friend will be scheduled for transport or pick up to start your life together!

"I have watched this group rescue so many dogs in our community. We have a large amount of wooded areas and people breed these dogs for hunting. If there is even a hint of the dog not being a top performer as a hunter, they will dump the hounds and leave them to fend for themselves. Hounds are family pets. I am a huge fan of adoption and rescuing animals. This group is top notch!! As a community, our animal control has very limited funding. These dogs would be euthanized. TLS works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and find placement for all of the lost hounds in Baker County. They deserve all of the recognition."

"The London Sanctuary is an amazing rescue run by some of the most caring people I know! When I moved to Glen St Mary FL, I immediately noticed the lack of support for abandoned/abused animals, mainly hound dogs, due to the amount of hunters in the area. Also being a rural county, the animal control is drastically unstaffed and under funded. The London Sanctuary saw a problem and has been working diligently to help fight an on going issue in Baker County. I have fostered 2 short term dogs for them but have helped transport numerous dogs for them. I have a family member who has adopted one dog from them and a good friend who has adopted 2! The London Sanctuary has also greatly helped the local community by forming an advisory committee with the board of county commissioners to help facilitate more ways to help more animals & residents in the community. With this board, the owner of The London Sanctuary was able to get a low cost spay/neuter program in Baker County & that has been running each month for several years to help control the animal population. The London Sanctuary has saved 100’s of lives in Baker County and we are so blessed to have them in our area!"

"I'm a veterinary technician at the clinic in which they bring in all the pets they rescue and pull. It's unbelievable the lengths this rescue with go to to make sure these pets have the best care for their future. They go above and beyond to make sure they have all they need and didn't get before in their lives; proper health care and LOVE! I've never worked with a rescue that is as true to their word as this one and puts so much time, blood, sweet and tears into."
