At our rescue, we are not only dedicated to matching our dogs with the perfect home, we are also dedicated to educating our community about the benefits of spaying and neutering as Dalis herself raised the funds to build a surgical room at our rescue where we host low cost spay and neuter clinics for the public. We are not exclusive to one area or county, in fact many people use our services from all over the state of Michigan and even some out of state including Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana. Dalis’ heart belongs to the misunderstood, the old, and the disabled. She always says that her goal is to rescue, but that her dream is that one day she won’t have to.

Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue

#15 in United States, #1 in Washington DC, #1 in Washington

Laila's Legacy was founded with a mission to ensure dogs impacted by breed bias and behavioral or physical challenges have a chance at a better life. Laila, our name sake, was an incredible dog who had a behavioral challenge that caused aggression towards dogs. Laila loved her humans, and especially our Co-Founder, Ashe. She was a large bully breed so her size combined with local breed bias meant sometimes people were afraid of her. But that didn't stop her from winning people over with her goofy energy. The rescue she was with did not have the resources to support Laila and couldn't find a suitable partner to take on her care because of her size and breed. As a result she was euthanized. Laila's Legacy was founded to save dogs like Laila. We never want a dog to be euthanized because an owner, a volunteer, or an organization didn't have the resources or because breed bias stopped them from getting the help they deserved. Dogs like Laila deserve a chance at life and that's what we're here to do!

Adopting an older rescue dog is a serious commitment. After looking for 4 months we were beginning to loose hope that we would find the good fit dog for our busy home and lifestyle. The way SHDR communicates and cares for their dogs is exceptional. Not only does the rescue have an amazing network of fosters and transport volunteers, they also have a deep understanding of the dogs they rescue and are intent on matching fosters and adopters with a dog that will fit into a home. Finding SHDR was absolutely worth the wait.

It is SHDR's personal mission to assist these magnificent breeds in any way we can. We are dedicated to educating the public as well as future Doberman owners about these majestic, often misunderstood breeds. They are often portrayed as aggressive dogs who will attack at a moment's notice when in fact they are Velcro dogs who are loyal, protective, and want to please their family! A Doberman wants nothing more than to be by your side and on your couch. ‚Äã All SHDR rescues are up to date on their shots, HW tested, microchipped, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Some come into rescue injured or abused and it may take a little longer to ready them for a forever home.

With a focus on community partnerships, this forward-facing approach works to ensure safe and healthy environments for people and pets. The department promotes responsible pet ownership, implements programs to reduce animal overpopulation, and has formed innovative partnerships and programs to increase the City’s effectiveness in supporting animals and humans in Mobile. As part of this approach, a newly modernized Animal Services facility is currently in design and will be built in a new location central to all parts of the City, and many new positions are also being added to further our mission and programs. UCAPS is a very important for dogs and cats in Union County, Arkansas. The organization works on little to no funding from the city or county. Their main funding is from donations and a few grants. UCAPS takes in all kinds of dogs and cats, abused, lost or abandoned. The organization runs on volunteers that give their time to help feed and provide care for the animals. UCAPS makes sure all dogs and cats are given their shots and the veterinarian checks for any signs of illness before they can be adopted. The organization transports some of the animals out of state to be adopted, which is a great expense but very rewarding. The transportations are done by donations and volunteers. UCAPS has a wonderful website that pictures dogs and cats that are available for adoption. When the center is in need of supplies, they list the needed supplies on the website and people can donate the product or donate money. UCAPS is truly a wonderful resource for our community!

In 2005 Last Chance Arkansas was founded as a 100% volunteer based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based out of Central Arkansas. Last Chance AR believes in advocating for the abused, abandoned, and neglected animals across the state that cannot speak for themselves. Working in conjunction with various clinics, Last Chance AR travels statewide to urban and rural communities to provide comfort, safety, and love to animals in need. Hundreds of lives have been saved through our efforts, which include a spay and neuter program for impoverished pet owners, frequent visits to rescue animals from shelters suffering from a desperate lack of funding, and the complete inability for any of our patient and dedicated volunteers to turn down a creature in need. We serve as a resource to our community and local pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training and good nutrition. We work with committed volunteers, veterinarians, fosters, and trainers to provide health care and temporary homes to animals deserving of another chance. Our number one priority is ensuring the health of all of our dogs and carefully screening and well matching ‘furever” homes.

Bunny’s Buddies is the definition of the word rescuer. They wholeheartedly and genuinely care for their dogs and where they end up forever. The dogs comes first. When a dog is in their care they go over and beyond for it. There is no limit to their care and treatments. Only the best. They don’t just get these dogs homes but the absolute best people to rehabilitate them after their traumas. They also educate about what rescue truly means. They set you up for success when you adopt from them. Their community is beyond amazing and so supportive! Every dog that becomes a BB is so lucky to have Amanda and Kyle’s commitment. I am so very proud to have adopted 3 dogs from them and to have fostered 4 dogs for them. I had my life changed forever the minute I came across them. I follow so many rescues and have fostered for other but there is truly no one that compares to BB. There is so much to say but overall they are the best because of the way they run it-for the dogs and the dogs only. The way it should be.

It is an all-volunteer, non-profit rescue, who in lieu of placing rescued goldens into boarding, place them into foster homes throughout the metro Atlanta area. Adopt a Golden Atlanta

Adopt a Golden Atlanta [AGA] is a volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to finding warm, loving permanent homes for Golden Retrievers [both purebred and high golden mixes] in order to prevent them from becoming strays or adding to the shelter overpopulation. If a non-golden is best friends with a golden who is surrendered to us, non golden will not be left behind and will accompany the golden into our program and placed with the golden to live together in their new home. Golden Retrievers, regardless of medical needs or age, will receive comprehensive evaluation, spay/neutering services, veterinary care, behavioral training if required, and safe passage into a permanent loving home. In addition to providing those services, Adopt a Golden Atlanta is intent on treating dog owners who are faced with surrendering their dogs with the utmost respect, understanding and compassion. It is also our obligation to educate and assist the metropolitan Atlanta general public, and dog owners specifically, regarding issues such as responsible pet ownership, spay/neutering, obedience training, and veterinary/specialists referrals. Our goal is to reduce the number of Golden Retrievers sent to shelters. AGA will never allow a golden to die in a shelter. AGA relies solely on donations and has a 501(c)(3) classification with the IRS. Your donation is tax deductible. We also meet the requirements for corporate matching, employee giving and volunteer grant programs.

I adopted my Koda from the Idaho Humane Society in October 2023. He had the sweetest face and was listed as a "TLC" adoption which meant some extra screening steps. It started with a phone call to make sure I understood his personality and needs and to see if that would fit with my lifestyle and expectations. Then we scheduled a meet & greet for me and also for my current dog. I met Koda (previously Luca) and 2 staff members coached me through how to interact with him and let him decide if I was his human. Then we went and got my lab, Chauncey, to see if they could be friends. The whole process was over an hour. I loved how dedicated they were to finding the RIGHT home for him. They also gave me a lot of tips on how to make him feel safe and comfortable, how to let him lead interactions and how to read his body language. He has been such a wonderful addition to our home! I also love that they routinely transfer dogs in from other areas to help with medical care and improving their chances of adoption. Koda was found as a stray in a rural part of the state and haf some medical issues. They brought him in, fixed him up, and got him ready for his forever family.

We have gotten two dogs from helping paws within two years. I cannot say enough how wonderful my experience with this rescue has been. All the animals they have are in fosters which is amazing because shelters are such stressful places for these babies. They were so amazing and helpful when i got my first baby back in 2022 and the foster stayed in contact with me and helped me through all the questions and concerns I had as a first time dog owner and made the experience so effortless and comfortable and i am still in contact with her today! they were accommodating to me and my schedule through the adoption process and always had nothing but the best intentions when it came to making sure we were successful. After the first adoption went so well I recommended them to anyone and everyone i could and eventually my roommate (now fiance) ended up adopting our other pup from them! And again we had a great experience. On top of that they also have a great alumni group on facebook that makes adopting from helping paws feel more than just an adoption but like youre joining a family which is so amazing. The alumni events and fundraising events are also so fun and very creative. I will definitely continue adopting from them in the future!

We work alongside law enforcement when there is an emergency or criminal situation and animals are present. After law enforcement has secured the scene, we proceed to rescue the animals. Sometimes we work with the Indiana State Veterinarian to methodically document all that is needed to care for the animals or prosecute if neglect and cruelty is suspected. The staff and volunteers are true warriors that lead with courage and compassion, daily meeting the challenge of many animals coming to our door in need of emergency medical care and shelter.

A Purposeful Life Animal Rescue & Sanctuary is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit volunteer-based animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing homeless dogs and cats directly within our community, overcrowded shelters and other unforeseen circumstances. We were founded in 2022 by a small group of animal advocates in Iowa, after recognizing the need to support not only strays and relinquished animals in our area, but areas all across the country. Our startup mission is to offer support to the many local animals in need of homes, by partnering with area shelters and rescues. In addition, we are committed to providing behavioral, medical and low cost resources to people who are considering surrender, in an effort to keep their pets in their homes and out of the shelter system

Founded by Beatrice Martin Peck in 1946 to serve Franklin County's homeless animals, Prairie Paws' first name was the Franklin County Humane society. Through her own expense and effort, Beatrice established and named the first building The Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter on March 25th 1947, which was completed and welcomed it's first residents in 1948. Beatrice and her volunteers also investigated reports of animal cruelty, and their efforts led to the enactment of many ordinances and regulations regarding animal care that remain today. Beatrice never stopped advocating for helpless animals until her death in 1967. The animal shelter she founded would continue to save lives for more than 60 years after her passing. In 2010 a similar group of hard-working animal advocates designed, funded and built a state-of-the-art facility under the current name "Prairie Paws Animal Shelter". Prairie Paws Animal Shelter has grown tremendously but is still a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal shelter operating under the same philosophies with which it was established over 70 years ago. The Manhattan location, also known as the T Russell Reitz Animal Shelter, was added in 2023 in partnership with the City of Manhattan KS and other area municipalities. Roughly 5,000 animals a year are served through our various programs at our two facilities.

During the Pandemic, like many people, we decided to adopt a shelter dog. After browsing many different sites, we were drawn to Tier Haven's animals, it's commitment and it's purpose. When we finally got together for a Meet and Greet with the dog we'd chosen, we were informed that she had been adopted the day before. However, because my wife and I both had experience with wildlife from working at a zoo, and as wildlife officers, we were offered the chance to meet another dog that had been found as a feral and was very reactive to people. This dog, Selena (now just Lena), was frightened, but not defensive. She was gentle and got along well with our older Lab (which we had brought with us). We ended up bringing Lena home, and she has forever changed us. Earning her trust has required training, time and a few tears. Three trainers and two vets later, she is just about as "normal" as any GSD can be. However, we are MUCH better owners, trainers and people for what it's taken to bring her to this point. We can't thank Tier Haven enough for trusting us with Lena. She was The Dog for us. Tier Haven took a chance with us, and we'll be forever grateful for the sweet dog we have. When our old Lab passed, we got a Lab puppy that Lena helped raise. Angus just loves anyone, and he's earning his certificate as a therapy dog. He's irreplaceable, but we wouldn't have been able to bring him to the level he's at without the things we learned from Lena. The experience of earning Lena's trust, a skittish dog that feared humans (and men in particular) has been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life. Tier Haven truly changed our lives for the better.

At Tier Haven our hearts belong to the working dog breeds of Kentucky - German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois being our most common companions. The Tier Haven family is comprised of volunteers, adopters, and donors who have a passionate love for these working breeds and all of their quirks. We are brought together by the dogs that steal our hearts while chewing the shoe collection. Tier Haven Rescue, Inc was originally incorporated in 1996 under the name ARK Project, Inc and is a long standing member of the animal rescue community in Kentucky. Originally an all-breed rescue Tier Haven shifted to focus on working dogs with the rise of breed specific legislation which was leading to larger numbers of German Shepherds, and other working dogs, being euthanized. We are rooted in Kentucky with a strong passion for enacting change within the state which has a long journey towards building our animal welfare laws. Even as breed specific legislation has dwindled there are still large numbers of working dogs finding themselves at risk of euthanasia due to a lack of breed knowledge and/or training. Tier Haven is committed to giving these dogs a second chance and we are all honored to be part of their paths to a better life.

Rescue Charlie’s Friends was established in 2018 because we love dogs and want them to have the best life possible. Many dogs lost their homes due to fire, floods or hurricanes. Others have been abandoned, neglected or abused. Whatever the cause, our mission is to rescue them and match them with a loving forever family. Most of our dogs come from high-kill shelters. The shelters do the best they can but due to limited facilities, dogs can’t stay long. Dogs must be moved out quickly or be put down. These are Charlie’s Friends. These are the dogs that we focus on. We stay in touch with shelters and volunteers in Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and elsewhere. We bring the dogs to Maine where Fosters care for them until they are adopted. We rescue as many dogs as we can but we always need more help.

    Key to lions heart rescue

Key to Lion’s Heart Rescue was founded in January 2018 in honor of Lion, a dog who made a tremendous impact on so many lives. Lion was dumped at a very high kill shelter where his time was up. Without knowing his past, he was pulled by a rescue and placed into a home. Lion was then moved nine times over the course of one year in an effort to find the right home. Unfortunately, the second to last move was that one that forever changed his soul. Just like people, dogs have a breaking point, and Lion had reached his. He had been through more in one year than any dog should ever have to go through in a lifetime. His last move was to a home where he was loved and cared for by a handful of people, his advocates for many months. Unfortunately, it was too late. The pain and suffering he had endured in some of his previous places was more than Lion could overcome. The light in his eyes was gone and he was suffering. In the arms of the people who loved him dearly, we whispered our goodbyes and told him how much we loved him. Humans had failed him. As we kissed him goodbye, we promised Lion that we would do our best to ensure no dog would ever have to endure what he had in his last year. At that moment, we dedicated ourselves to unlocking hope for all dogs by giving a little piece of our hearts to every single one that we can save.

This rescue is run by the most tireless woman ever. She puts her soul into helping so many pets, runs neuter and spay clinics, carefully checks adoptive requests, and still manages to run a business. You can feel the pain in her words when she cant take in another rescue because there is no more room, or when there is an unadoptable dog with behavior problems....usually it becomes one of her personal "naughty crew"....I wish everyone could see how hard she works for every one of these pets, making sure mommas and dads are fixed, so no more are added to the problems. Vetting the sick, educating humans, worrying when supplies are low, but still going. Love you, Dalis!

It is just a place for them to crash before their next step into a foster or adoptive home. Currently, we have about 30 cats and 10 dogs in our shelter. We do our best to make the animal's time here the best it can be. When they are in their kennels we play calming doggie music and they get enrichment actives. As we do not have a fenced in yard area outside, on nice days we schedule SniffSpots for our shelter residents! It is a great way that they can explore a new space and get some energy out.

My husband and I live right beside Amish country in Ohio. Sadly, it is one of the puppy mill capitals of the nation. We adopted a Bernese Mountain Dog from a local shelter and decided to find a way to do more to help these loving dogs. I reached out to Heart Of Michigan and we became transporters. So much effort and work goes into each rescue trip we make! Our wonderful coordinators send us leashes and harnesses in advance and we write the dogs’ new names on them. We do pickups at three or four different Amish farms and puppy mills in a day, starting early in the morning and texting photos, information about conditions at the pickup location and the dogs themselves as we go. It can be incredibly emotionally challenging, especially when confronted with uncaring people and abusive or neglectful conditions. We keep our cool, because we want the puppy mill owners to call the rescue the next time they have a Berner or Bernedoodle they want to get rid of, instead of just dumping them off out in the countryside. We drive the dogs about three hours to a veterinary clinic in Toledo, whose staff volunteers to come in and care for the dogs the next day. During that drive we often see terrified dogs in the back of our car snuggled together in fear of the unknown. But as we go, many dogs gradually warm up to us, resting their head on my husband’s shoulder and looking at us just wanting to please. After they are cleaned up, spayed or neutered and given medical care at the vet, another transport driver coordinates to pick them up and get them to their foster homes. The amount of patience, time, money and effort that every volunteer and person involved in Heart of Michigan Bernese Mountain Dog is really inspiring. But the great thing that volunteering with them has taught us is how ANYONE can help. People find out that we are volunteer transporters and tell us how “amazing” it is that we do it. I tell them that it is one afternoon out of our lives, a tank of gas, and a few hours with some very stinky, frightened animals. Our real joy comes a few months later, when Heart of Michigan posts an update online with one of “our” transport mamas who is ready for their forever home. Seeing the scared, filthy, neglected dog that we picked up being cared for by a loving foster family in a new home with toys and pets and treats, with a big Berner grin, makes any trouble or inconvenience worthwhile. I know without a doubt that every coordinator, volunteer, transport driver and foster family at Heart of Michigan feels the same way. I have personally seen all of these people go out of their way time and time again to make a situation work any way that they can, just to get a dog to safety. This organization really commits to its cause and deserves all the help and support it can get.

Rescues are frequent. Re-homings are more frequent. Re-homings differ from rescues in the fact that we will have a history of the dog and its need. Puppies don’t normally need to be placed until they get bigger than the owner had intended and therefore are not as common in rescue. Please keep in mind that most “rescue/rehome dogs” are placed because of behavioral problems, most, but not all. Many of the dog’s issues were due to lack of training and socialization. Most problems can be addressed and corrected in a stable and loving home. If you really want a Berner, do tons of research. Our advice is to attend shows, join a BMD club and research breeders. If you would like to be considered for a rescue or re-homing, please read our policy’s on the Adopting page. The mission of the HMBMD Rescue program is to take in dogs of Bernese Mountain Dog parentage that are in shelters, surrendered by their owners, or that have become lost and abandoned, and to place them in permanent pet homes in order to help provide a safe harbor that they might otherwise be destroyed or abandoned.

I’ve worked with and fostered for other rescue groups in Minnesota. Every dog and cat we have had over the past 25 years has been rescued. About a year ago, I lost my yellow lab to cancer at age 14. The year before that I lost my GSD at age 16. I’ve always believed no dog or cat can ever be replaced, I do know, though, that there is always a need for kind, loving adoptive people to give a rescue animal a home and thus open the door for the rescue to help another dog in need. It was a matter of days before I fell in love with a rescue pup on Emotional Rescue’s website. Shannon was fantastic to communicate with and arrange a meeting with Pippa. I was impressed, and I do mean impressed, with Emotional Rescue’s devotion to the animals in their care specifically the level of medical care and loving support provided to each and every pup as well as their “vetting” process for potential adoptive pup parents. Their goal is to ensure the best possible future for both pups and their forever families. That takes time, attention and both the kindness and courage to say “no” when pup and potential parent are not a good fit. My Pippa (whose DNA says Australian Kelpie, but appearance says Karelian Bear Dog😀) is my best friend, full fledged family member and good neighbor to all. I’m forever grateful to Shannon for making it possible for Pippa to be a part of our lives

    Warrior Dog Rescue

Warrior Dog rescue is a non-profit organization based in Savage, MN that is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding adoptive homes for dogs that have been abandoned, abused, or neglected. We are celebrating our 6th year in rescue and have saved over 3,400 dogs to date. When we reflect on that number we think that each one of those dogs had a foster hero that YES to saving them! We think about all the visits to the vet, the training, the full food bowls, walks, belly rubs, and all the healing that was given to each of them through the love and safety we were able to provide. Knowing that we were able to help them heal and be ready to love their forever family is a blessing beyond compare. Our storybook is filled with all the Warrior Dogs who have come into our lives and forever imprinted on our hearts. The Warrior Dog family continues to save these sweet souls because they all deserve to the know the gift of love and safety. There is still work to be done and by the grace and selflessness of our volunteer and foster teams, along with our generous donors we will continue. There are so many pups even as you read this that are alone and sick, abandoned in kill shelters and on roadsides, living a life filled with fear and abuse. We are steadfast in our commitment to continue to make a difference, one dog at a time.

As an avid supporter and foster connector for multiple states, I will say all put forth their best intentions but Stray Rescue of St.Louis is the epitome of what a rescue strives to be. To give up their time, own money, and to tell everyone upfront they are in heavy debt from the bills currently but will not turn away an animal on its deathbed speaks heavy for who they are as a rescue. Every rescue is full of people who will die for the animals they save but Stay Rescue of St. Louis shows a group of people who would die and be brought back just to ensure an animals well being.

This organization started as a grass roots organization bringing awareness to the chained backyard dog. It has since educated the public of the many detriments of chaining a dog and has spread the word and now people do not just pass by saying ‘poor dog’ they know there is support and help for this dog. UMDR is solely responsible for this awareness and is proud to know that many other organizations have brought this rescue effort into it’s fold. They continue to move forward with many programs and outreach for their community and beyond.

I adopted a wonderful dog from NMDOG. Since, I've come to know a lot about the organization and their unwavering dedication to rescuing neglected and/or chained dogs here in NM. They assess their dogs so you know what you're getting into. They are also rather picky about the people they adopt out to, requiring potential adoptees to fill out a survey and sign a contract. I find this reassuring. I highly recommend this organization, and would urge you to consider adopting from them.

My wife and I have fostered 98 puppies for Pawfect Match Rescue, 2 and 3, at a time. We foster exclusively for Pawfect Match Rescue because we believe in the rescue’s mission. It’s a wonderful rescue in the Raleigh NC area that saves dogs and puppies from rural and impoverished counties and shelters in NC and the SE region. As examples, Pawfect Match Rescue saves pregnant mama dogs who have been thrown out of moving vehicles, boxes of puppies left on the shoulder of busy highways, beautiful dogs that are hours from euthanasia at overcrowded county shelters, infants that need to be bottle fed every 2 hours in order to save their lives, and volumes of scared and neglected dogs from backyard breeder situations. In addition to serving the masses of unwanted, neglected, and abused dogs, Pawfect Match Rescue will take in the hard medical cases that are very expensive to treat. All staff are volunteers. There are no paid positions. Pawfect Match Rescue relies solely on donations and adoption fees to pay expenses. We are so honored to volunteer with the kindest most compassionate people who share a passion for saving dogs. In my opinion, there’s no other choice.

I had lost my long time pit bull companion in the early fall to cancer. I spent the last couple of months missing her and feeling that empty nest. I did not want another dog but I was open to a feline friend. I began searching local shelters on line and I was impressed with the CCHS’s commitment to the well being of each animal. They posted stories, took pictures and hosted events in a continuous effort to save those lives. I put in an application and my journey began. I met the most caring and incredible group of people. I was impressed by the level of support and enthusiasm everyone had. So I drove over an hour to find and meet my new furbaby. Although it was late, no one rushed me and I spent over an hour, just sitting and meeting all the cats. Finally, I decided on Thorin, my big fluff ball, and he has been a joy.. so much that a couple of months later, I got another one. I love how they tell the story of the animal and how they came to their new family. They are an amazing group of people!

I found TMAR one day on Facebook right after both my parents died in early 2020. I was already a pet lover having had 7 dogs and 2 cats at the same time for several years. The uniqueness of this rescue, it’s back story, and it’s unwillingness to give up has kept me supporting them since then. They have a global following for their rescue in their sparsely populated part of upper eastern North Dakota. Terrible weather, rural communities with little resources, and non existent state concerns for animal safety and welfare are daily problems they face. And yet they keep on going. They have been building a large new facility for two years that they are paying for as they go. We all help to finance this along with our rescue support. TMAR wants the youth of their area to participate in the animal care when the facility opens. They are a fabulous organization doing their best to help the unwanted and stray animals in their part of ND. They are worthy of any praise and financial help they get. ❤️

    HuskyHusky
Arctic Rescue provides a wonderful service for malamutes and huskies in the Mountain West region. They have helped home countless dogs and given them a better life. Many malamutes and huskies are adopted by families and then given up because they have “too much energy”, are “too rambunctious”, or have specific needs that can be difficult to cater to (high prey drive, need regular daily exercise, sometimes not great with little kids, etc). Arctic Rescue finds a home for all of their dogs, regardless of their individual needs. We adopted Nakita (a 3 year old malamute) in 2010 after she had been in the shelter for over 6 months. She was so loving and such a sweetheart but didn’t get along with other dogs so they were having trouble finding her a home that was the perfect fit. We found her on petfinder.com and visited Arctic Rescue and immediately fell in love! Then in 2014 we adopted Lobo (a 2 year old, 120lbs malamute). Lobo had been on a chain in the backyard for his 2 years of life and didn’t know how to go up or down stairs and was scared of the TV! He was the big friendly giant and even won over Nakita! Nakita and Lobo were our best adventure buddies, they loved coming trail running and backcountry skiing with me and my husband and you could often find them in the shade at our favorite rock climbing crags. Nakita and Lobo brought us so much joy in our lives. Unfortunately, Lobo passed away in March 2020 from osteosarcoma and Nakita passed exactly 1 year to the day later from old age. We miss them terribly but are so grateful to Arctic Rescue and specifically Maren Partridge for bringing them both into our lives.

    Arctic Rescue

Arctic Breeds Rescue has been rescuing animals in Utah and the surrounding states for over 20 years. We specialize in rescuing Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes. Many of the dogs we take into rescue are deemed "unadoptable" by shelters or local government and have no other options other than to come to a breed specific rescue who can find them a home where they can be set up to succeed. The purpose of the Organization shall be: To rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome arctic breed dogs in need, including but not limited to breeds such as Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Samoyeds and mixed breeds of the aforementioned. To provide basic medical care, spaying/neutering, and vaccinations to rescued dogs. To educate the public about responsible dog ownership, including breed-specific needs, training, and the importance of spaying/neutering. To positively impact the community through community and/or youth outreach by sharing the inspiring stories of rescued canines.

They also have the best ideas for fundraisers. I have volunteered for Vindicated, or supported them in some capacity, for years, and two of my three current rescue dogs are Vindicated alum. I've also fostered for them. Vindicated is a top-notch rescue that works to pull dogs from kill shelters in areas where breed-specific legislation exists, predominantly in Prince Georges County, Maryland. For many years, PG was able to confiscate dogs, and as recently as last week, any owner surrenders were first to be euthanized due to overcrowding. Vindicated does a wonderful job not only working with the shelter volunteers to ensure good evaluations are made, but they go above and beyond to support their volunteers, foster homes, and dogs by ensuring they have everything they need to succeed - even beyond a dog's adoption. I cannot say enough positive positive things about this rescue and the work that they do.

We work with shelters and owners who cannot keep their pets and through extensive veterinary care and training, we rehabilitate them and place them in loving, forever homes where the animals will never again be abandoned. More than 30% of the animals we take in are special or medically needy and require more extensive and expensive care. The Hope Highway does so much good, not only for the dogs in the south, but also local surrenders. The fosters and board members really care about the dogs and want them to have their best lives. We adopted our Peanut from them a year and a half ago and we have since become fosters (Hope Highway is not a shelter, so all dogs that come in need a loving home until adopted), volunteer to raise funds, and try to help and support in any way we can.

    The Hope Highway

The Hope Highway is completely foster based. We pride ourselves on helping dogs and their people. We do what we can to help people keep their dogs in their home and not surrender. We also have a spay and neuter program that we also offer to the community at an affordable cost.
